Complementary Therapy

Our Complementary Therapy Service provides holistic therapies to patients, with the aim of complementing your Medical and Nursing care. This means treating the whole person, not just the illness and its symptoms.

We offer physical and emotional support, with therapies, to help relieve symptoms such as anxiety and pain and increase feelings of relaxation and wellbeing.  Therapies can be received by the bedside, or, in one of our complementary therapy rooms, specially designed with lighting, music, and aromas to enhance the effects of the therapy.

You can be referred to the service by the Inpatient Team and will then be assessed by the Complementary Therapist who will work with you to tailor the therapy to your current needs.

If your carer is experiencing stress and anxiety, they can also be referred for a treatment/s to help strengthen coping mechanisms.

The treatments provided are:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Therapeutic massage
  • Reflexology
  • Reiki
  • ‘M’ Technique
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Indian Head Massage
  • Holistic Facials

Acupuncture is also offered at the hospice; this service is provided by the Consultant following a medical assessment.
