Clinical Nurse Specialists

The Clinical Nurse Specialist team visit patients in their usual place of residence. They are linked to those patients own GP working very closely with the District Nurses, Social Services and other professionals as necessary.

Each member of the Hospice Clinical Nurse Specialist Team is a Registered Nurse. They have chosen to work in palliative care and have undertaken additional training to become specialist practitioners.

They are able to advise on medical, nursing and many other aspects of the patient’s care as well as providing a confidential counselling and information service to the patient, their carers and relatives.  The team is there to provide specialist knowledge and to help with the worries that being ill may present.

Their job, as a team, is to make available all the expertise, skills and support services developed over the years by the John Eastwood Hospice and Palliative Care Services.

They help both the patient and their family in their own home. Their objective is to make life ‘better’ for both, so that whatever the future may hold, today will be more comfortable and fulfilled.
