Voluntary Services

Approximately 280 voluntary staff work in several different areas in the Hospice, providing services which would otherwise not be available. Their duties include tea bar, reception, gardening, transporting patients from home to day hospice, supporting day hospice services and providing clerical support to the nursing staff and Hospice Trust staff. We also have teams at our two charity shops in Mansfield. We are very proud of our voluntary staff, and thank them all for their wonderful commitment. They are regularly referred to in letters of thanks from families and friends of hospice patients, who remember them for their care and concern.

Congratulations to our fantastic team of volunteers for winning the ‘Non-Clinical Team of the Year’ award in Notts Healthcare Trust’s 12th annual ‘OSCARS’ (Outstanding Service Contribution and Recognition Awards.), and being the overall winners of the Chad’s Pride of the Year award. We are delighted that their outstanding commitment and dedication have been acknowledged and rewarded in this way.

We now have a lower age limit of 18 for new applicants. Our volunteers all have different backgrounds and experience, and have their own personal reasons for being here. Whatever their motivation, we are delighted to work alongside them and have the precious gift of their time. Please refer to www.jobs.nhs.uk for details of vacancies for salaried positions.
